Books for Boys
Robin Hood and His Merry Men. By E. Charles Vivian.
(Oxford University Press. 68.)
Queer Doings at Attleborough. By Richard Bird. (Oxford University Press. 5s.) - Mutiny Island. By C. M. Bennett. (Nisbet. 5s.) R.N. (Seeley, Service. 5s.) For Land and Liberty. By Escott Lynn. (Chambers. 3s. 6d.) WHEN the waiter says " The beef is very nice to-day, Sir," he does not imply that there are not other good items on the menu. And in selecting for review the above-mentioned books for boys, we do not suggest that there are not plenty of others worthy of notice. Publishers, however, cater so prodigally for the young reader to-day that it is impossible even to mention a tithe of the excellent fare now available on the booksellers' shelves. All we can here attempt is to call attention to what seem to us, after a careful examination of a large pile of books, to be some of the best new volumes obtainable for boys this year.
