SIR,—My attention has just been called to a letter signed "W. B. 0." which appeared in the Spectator of January 20th. I do not recognise from the initials the gentleman who "well remembers" me in Calcutta in 1872. He is certainly mistaken in thinking that he remembers me in Calcutta in 1872. I was not in India in that year. There are many other points on which he could be answered, but the above lies on the surface.
