hapless maiden of the BBC to the rails, up gallops the

hero in the unlikely person of Mr. George Elvin. The news of the strike on Independent Television was reported with impartial enthusiasm by the BBC. No doubt Sir Hugh Greene and my other admirers in the BBC hierarchy now confidently expect to have at least one )3BC show this week in the top ten. And if only the crews of the pirate ships would also go on strike . . . why someone might actually listen to the Light Pro- gramme: which as Mr. Frank Gillard (ignoring What the Paper's Say) bravely insists is not going ,to be fundamentally changed. That, if true, is the most depressing thought of the "week.
