A series of lectures on social and literary questions, to

be given on Saturday afternoons, will commence on this day week, at the theatre of the School of Mines, in Jermyn Street. Mr. Thomas Hughes will open the series with an account of observations made during his recent visit to the United States. On succeeding Saturdays the Dean of Westminster, Mrs. Fawcett, and others will lecture. The proceeds are to be devoted to the maintenance of the beneficent operations of the Working-Men's Club and Institute Union.
