Wrong again?

Sir: Has Bookbuyer got it wrong yet again? I am sure that the only difficulty. Collins are having in finding a replacement for their former publicity manager is of deciding where they want the emphasis of the job to fall. However, that is a factor to be decided by Collins.

The pressures within the publicity world of publishing are no greater in Collins than anywhere else. And Bookbuyer acknowledges, with Collins's wide and varied list it is somewhat easier than most.

I however take issue with Bookbuyer on one aspect. In publishing the satisfaction of working with authors and books is secondary to ambition; this has always been my own personal belief as anyone who examines my work will realise.

My reason for moving to Hodder and Stoughton was to find satis

faction in a more broadly based job, rather than remain in the narrow confines of purely PR and to be involved in the promotion and marketing aspects of publishing, a function already undertaken ably and successfully at Collins by Michael Hyde.
