Refugees
Impressed by London's new skyline, 1 tried to get a thirtieth-floor after-dinner brandy in a much-publicised, very new hotel. Expelled peremptorily by minuscule uniformed guards, I decamped to the congenial pub round the corner. It was full of morose inebriate rich who, said the barmaid, were 'all refugees from the skyscraper next door.'
