are pretty and well-told stories that Miss Birley has collected in this little volume. Perhaps the best of them is "Yes, or No ?" It is not often, we fear, that a man who has once begun to be dishonest climbs again the upward path. There is -very little to help him, if be does. But it is done in this story, and the doing of it is told in such a way as to call out our belief and sympathy.
