An Etymological Dictionary of the Romance Languages. By T. C. Donkin, B.A. (Williams and Norgate.)—The author has based his work on the second edition of the well-known "Dictionary of Vriedrich Die;" but he has not failed to consult the other available authorities, such as " Wedgwood's Dictionary of English Etymology" and " Littre's History of the French Language." The arrangement is alphabetical, certainly the simplest and best, and a very interesting feature is added in the shape of a list of the Rnglish words connected with the Romance words treated of. Mr. Deakin is well known to have bestowed much labour on the science of language, and to be one of the first scholars of the Romance tongues in this country. His work will be no slight boon to students.
