THE ALPILEUS AT SYRACUSE.
[To THE EDITOR OF THE SPECTATOR:] SIR,—Your recent review of Mr. Symonds's "Sketches in Italy and Greece" mentions the fresh-water spring which rises in the sea, near the fountain of Arethusa, at Syracuse, and which is now called rocchio della Zilica. May I ask your readers if any of them have seen this origin of the myth—which it must be—noticed before? I have not been able to find any such notice.—I am,
