4 MARCH 1843, Page 11
Papers have been received from the Cape of Good Hope
to the 30th of December, the latest date from Graham's Town being the 29th. The left division of Colonel Hare's force had reached Tarka on the 24th, and was expected to be at Colesberg by the 29th. It had sustained considerable loss in oxen on the march, and some of the soldiers had suffered severely. 3Ioelee, a leader of the Boers, had retreated from Philipolis to the Modder River ; where, it was said, he meant to con- centrate the rebel force and to dispute the passage.
