ORGANIC RESURRECTION
[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—The Dean of Chester, in his admirable article under this
heading, quotes the distich—so appropriate to the coming season of Passiontide : " Mors mortis morti mortem nisi rnorte dedisset, Aternae vitae ianua elausa foret."
In case any of his readers, less learned than himself, should desire an English version, may I venture to suggest this : " Barred were the Gates of Life against our crying. Had not Death's deadly Poe put Death to death—by dying."
—I am, Sir, &c., AUGUSTA CIRBY.
