Telegraphic despatches from Bombay to the 11th January were re-
ceived this morning. The news from Lueknow is favourable. The rebels at large were decreasing in numbers. Men of rank were surren- dering to Lord Clyde, or returning to Lucknow. Forts were in course of demolition, and the disarming of the people was going on rapidly. In Central India, Tantia Tepee, repulsed with loss in an attack on Per- taubghur on Christmas-day, retired to Banswarra. Feroze Shah, followed, intercepted, harrassed by several coital's, was still intent on joining Tenth'. Tepee; and the forces of the latter chief, heading towards 7eypore, had been caught and chastised by Colonel Benson' of the 17th Lancers, at "Zeerapoor," and by Colonel Somerset at " Burred " in Kebab. In the Nizam's territory 2000 Rohillas were plundering " Ad- juntah," and two regiments of cavalry had been ordered to restore tranquillity. In the Banda district General Whitlock had inflicted severe punishment on rebels who had assailed Narain Row.
