Sir: Mark Steyn states (Arts, 15/22 December) that 'White Christmas', which was the signal for the evacuation of the US embassy in Saigon, has never been put into a Vietnam movie. In fact, Stephen Frears directed an excellent 1983 film called Saigon: Year of the Cat, starring Judi Dench and Frederic Forrest, in which 'White Christmas' was played over the frantic evacuation scenes.
