The question of the salary of the President of the
Local Government Board was once more raised in the House of Commons on Wednesday, and although Mr. Asquith declared that "the matter was one for general assent," no decision was apparently made. We feel that the time has come for settling the question without again putting Mr. Burns in the awkward position of being consulted upon it. After all, the adequate payment of such a great office is the concern of the whole House rather than of an individual.
