Outrage

Sir: Can the extraordinary Mr Worsthorne be serious in his feigned shock at the relative honesty of the staff and gentlemen of the Turf — that most genial of clubs, whose walls have traditionally been lined with more rakes than Mr McGregor's pot- ting shed?

If an honest man is (according to Nuttall) fair in his dealings; just and upright; free from fraud; sincere; honourable; chaste; respectable and faithful', I would exchange a small bottle of Krug for the name of one 'honest' member of that establishment.

Meanwhile, I naturally have the deepest sympathy for Mr Worsthorne's unfor- tunate friend, though I'm intrigued to know what on earth a 'tie ring' may be: sounds like something worn by a Boy Scout.
