The latest statements from Rumania dispose, as might have been
expected, of most of the exciting rumours of the past fortnight. It is quite true that M. Manoilescu, a former Under-Secretary of State, was arrested on the frontier for bringing messages from Prince Carol, but the Prime Minister, M. Bratianu, seems to have the situation well in hand. It has yet to be proved that there is any movement worthy of the name for the restoration of the incalculable and by no means admirable Prince Carol. And Prince Carol is not a man to create support where he does not find it. Unless somebody runs a revolution for him he is not likely to become dangerous.
