A Manual of Historic Ornament. By Richard Glazier. (B. T.
Batsford. 6s)—It is of course impossible in a single volume, and that not a very large one, to give in any sense a complete review of the ornament of past ages in many countries. Never- theless, it is surprising how many examples have been collected together in this book, with its clear pen-drawings. These include not only architecture, but glass, silver, ivory, carpets, furniture, china, and sculpture. There is a running commentary which clearly indicates the main outlines of the subject.
