Sir: In Nancy Allum's article 'Go forth and be equal' (November 22) she uses that dotty word chair-person. Does this mean that in order to avoid being labelled sexists we must in future call policemen police-persons, firemen fire-persons, postmen post-persons, lifeboatmen lifeboat-persons, and charwomen (charladies?) char-persons? How daft can this sex-equality business get?
