An Apology
Love, when we left the house, still arguing, And you, preceding me down the steps, turned half Around so you could fling Abuse at my nasty laugh, And, by so doing, just managed to keep Yourself from tripping, taking a bad fall (Those steps were rather steep), Scraping your face on gravel, Maybe smashing your glasses, perhaps worse Damaging further already ruined knees, Please understand my curse (Even watching you seize At air for some support) was not at your futile Words to equalise our devastation,
