Error on the march

Sir: I write to correct Mr DeAth (23 May) as I frequently find myself doing with others, as to the status of my old college, Aberystwyth. This is one of the constituent colleges and schools of the University of Wales, the Principality's only degreeawarding institution as far as I know.

Mr De'Ath may have been ill-informed by his marcher, but this ignorance of one's studies is not apparently unusual — recently in a Cambridge outfitters I was behind a student hiring a gown who was unaware if she was about to sit an arts or law degree. It would have been one of the first things they learnt I thought.
