A ROOK'S CACHE.
[To THE EDITOR. or TER " SPECTATOR.") Sia,—One day last week, after the small birds had disposed of their crumbs, my two'companions and I noticed through t he drawing-room windows that a rook came for a bit of crust lea on the lawn. After pecking at it for a time he deliberately dug a hole with his beak, placed the crust in the hole, and covered it with the moss and grass he had removed. lie then flew away. Next morning we examined the spot and found the
hole uncovered and empty.—I am, Sir, he., 31. L. Sidmouth.
