Sir: It was sad to hear that Richard West was forced to suffer the indignity of slow travel along the 'ancient, warped, narrowgauge' railway track between Euston and Birmingham (23 October).
Next time he travels north he really must use Mr Bruners excellent broad gauge route from Paddington. And he must write another imaginative account of his journey. Geoffrey Skelsey
