THE COTTAGE PROBLEM.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."] Sra,—Being interested in the building of cheap cottages, I am very anxious to get information as to places where squared chalk blocks are used, and especially as to the methods used in getting them out. I have heard that a continued traditional use of squared block exists somewhere in the neighbourhood of Amberley, in Sussex.
