If only by reason of the importance of the undertaking and the wide ramifications of its operations, great inter always attaches to the annual meeting of- Vickers, Limited, which, it should be noted, is now a holding company. At the recent annual meeting the Chairman, General Sir Herbert Lawrence, drew attention to the fact that much of the pow. tial operations of the company was largely outside the control of selling organizations. The company, he pointed out could not increase the demand for armaments or expedite the replacement of obsolete ships, or augment the quantity of steel required. All that they could do was to endeavour to obtain a fair share of the work that might be available,
