Some remarkable figures were given by the Colonial Secretary in
the House of Commons on Wednesday. Asked how many Jews had emigrated from Great Britain to Palestine in the period 1920-1945, Mr. Hall gave the total for the years 1922-1944, which was 2,482, or an average of little over one hundred a year. In the light of this, what are British Zionists driving at? Do all the leaders who are urging that Palestine should be made a National Home for the Jews mean that other Jews should go there while they themselves hold fast to Hampstead? There may be another and a better ex- planation, but this is clearly the obvious one. If it is correct, it is a strange comment on the zeal for the National Home.
