Six—Janus asks if the Press chiefs ever heard why Aristides
was ostracised. This is loose thinking, as in the journals, including the Spectator, which habitually treat King Canute as a -vain fool, instead of one who gave his courtiers a needed lesson. Janus means, why one single voter wished him ostracised. There is no particular reason why a Press thief's knowledge should go beyond this.—Yours faithfully,
