The lamented death of Lord Lloyd removes from politics and
public life a virile, independent and courageous advocate of many related causes. It is all the more sad, because after many years of advocacy he was at last in a powerful position to use his endowments and talents for the benefit of the country he loved so much. There was no one quite like him ; he inspired a small but devoted following. Imperial Defence, England's Case, the Merchant Navy, Sea Cadets, the Church of England, all spring to life whenever the name George Lloyd is mentioned.
