SIR,—It is a frightening attitude of mind that allows no
aesthetic vision (letter of the PRO, British Road Federation), but considers that the faster we go the greater our comforts. The world on wheels (and in the air) is a great conception, but how brilliantly was his 'faster faster' philosophy illustrated by the ants in Capek's play, who didn't get anywhere except closer to death.—Yours faithfully,
