Sir: My views on the EEC situation (with apologies to

Dryden, who 1 am sure would have agreed with me): As for the EEC, it's my belief That, from the top of mountains made of beef (Put there especially to spoil our view, Impoverish our country, and us, too) All I can see is misery and gloom While being in the Nine is still our doom.

But far away, an EFTA sun breaks out Over the fogs of cowardice and doubt And shines upon a future far more bright Than faces us in Europe's costly night.

United Europes still a menace are. • The last attempt was called the Third Reich, ja?

So, though there are extremists on each side Yet there are moderates, too, the type that hide

And seldom speak, but who will all vote -No"

And undemocracy will overthrow.'

It said. And still its lonely truth stands out Though European liars crowd about, The moral is that no trust should be placed In men or coins of metal so debased That they are many-sided, and twofaced.
