Young gentlemen at both Oxford and Cambridge, it appears, are

smoking Indian hemp and dosing themselves with benze- drine, caffeine and other drugs, and undergraduate papers at either university are investigating the matter. I doubt whether there is really a great deal to investigate. A few odd examinees used to taken benzedrine to stimulate their wits at the last moment thirty years ago and more, and there is always a small lunatic fringe tempted to cut a dash by indulg- ing in such decadence and illegality as smoking marijuana.
