Greek guts
Sir: It is not enough for Taki merely to say ('Iron lady', 21 February) that he was pro-junta. He should admit that thereby he was pro-torture (see trials), pro-overthrow of Makarios (July 1974) and ironically pro-abolition of the monarchy in Greece (summer 1973). It would, however, require a modicum of guts to commit such words to paper. Taki, who is 100 per cent Greek, says also that Greeks lack courage. He is wrong to generalise on a sample of one.
