The French Government seems disposed to impoverish as well as
control the Press. The Minister of the Interior has started an Evening Moniteur at a halfpenny, which it is supposed the public will buy, to the exclusion of other papers. We doubt it, the public not having much taste for cold veal; but the theatres have been compelled to break their contract with the proprietors of the Entr'acte, and allow the ilfoniteur du Soir to be sold in the pit. Bread to the cottage, justice to the palace, was the Venetian motto; that of M. Boudet is obviously peace to the stomach, but wart() the brain of France.
