The Scotch Free Kirk Clergy have replied to the address

of the Confederate Clergy on the subject of slavery,—and the reply has received in a very short time upwards of 1,000 signatures, headed by the name of Dr. Candlish. The Scotch Clergy do not argue the matter. They, in effect, tell the Confederate Clergy that even Confederate clergymen know better than to write such evil nonsense, and that the sentiment it inspires in them is " abhorrence."
