The Cradle of Mankind. By the Rev. W. A. Wigram
and E. T. A. Wigrant. (A. and C. Black. 12s. 6d. net.)—One of the authors of this book lived for ten years in Eastern Kurdistan as a member of the Archbishop of Canterbury's Assyrian Mission : the other derived his knowledge of the country from a stay of three months. Thus they claim that they are able to combine the fresh impressions of the globe- trotter with the knowledge of the resident. We cannot say that the result is so superior to the ordinary single-handed book of travel as to make such collaboration imperative.
