Bedpan virtues
Sir: As a onetime long-suffering tube traveller, I feel compelled to speak out in British Rail's defence (Letters, 31 August). I have for some time now been an ardent admirer. How do I travel? On the notor- ious Bedpan line whose virtues recent proponents of the strike have been at pains to decry. What can I say, other than, apart from a brief unexplained hiccup earlier this year, that it is outstandingly efficient? Could this set a new precedent for British Rail?
