ETON OF OLD.
[To THE EDITOLE OF THE "SPECTATOR."] Sin,—In your notice of " Eton of Old ; or, Eighty Years Since," in the Spectator of April 1st, a serious question is raised as to the genuineness of the authorship. We think it right to give you and the public our assurance that the work contains the genuine memoirs of an old Etonian who was at the School from 1811 to 1822, and who is now living. The MS., which was only completed last year, is entirely in the handwriting of the author, whose name is well known among the Fellows of King's College, Cambridge.—We are, Sir, &c., GRIFFITH, FARRAN, AND CO. Newberg House, 39 Charing Cross Road, London, April 5th.
