We wounded Tories
From Mrs Tessa Keswick Sir: I must write to protest about two articles which you published recently. One was by Bevis Hillier (24 November) that described all Conservatives as hateful — which was not only insulting but historically illiterate — and another by Andrew Gimson (10 November) which said the same thing and much worse about all Conservative Members of Parliament. Mr Gimson simply pushed his tape-recorder under the noses of foul-mouthed yobs in a pub and pretended to take the answers seriously. An easy way to earn a living!
It would have been interesting for your readers had your paper sought to investigate how the Conservatives have been demonised so effectively over the last eight years, particularly when so many of their policies are now endorsed by Labour; but this was not the objective of either article, which merely sought to wound.
