The Queen Mother

Sir: I have followed the correspondence on the late Duke of Windsor and cannot help but notice that one most important point has been missed.

The Queen Mother must have very deep memories of this time — can we at least spare a thought for her?

Although I was only a young boy at the time of the abdication and cannot remember too much of the feeling then, I am certain now that we all had the best for our dear country. King George VI and his queen gave their all for the service of us — let us first and foremost remember this — the rest matters very little.
