A Cyprus 'state'
Sir: In the issue of 1 July an advertisement was included in your magazine which was placed by the London Office of the 'Turkish Federated State of Cyprus'. Since all advertisements in the United Kingdom have to conform to a certain standard — i.e. must be truthful, honest, etc. — before being published, I take it that all the material used in the advertisement was checked by your staff and was found to be accurate. Therefore, I will not challenge the material in this advertisement. There are, however, certain things on which I hope you will enlighten me. These deal with as to who placed the advertisement in your magazine.
It says at the end of the advertisement that it was issued by the London Office of the 'Turkish Federated State of Cyprus'. What I hope you will enlighten me on are: (1) When has the Turkish occupied part of Cyprus become a 'state' (date, month, year if possible)? (2) What countries recognise this 'state'? and (3) To which country is this 'state' federated to? (Could you also give me the date this 'federation' was completed?)
