The recent change in the weather has had most beneficial

effects, as two facts forcibly illustrate : yesterday more than fifty of the winds bound vessels in the Channel came up the Thames; and the country papers received today mention the opportune fall of a general though not continuous rain, with marked improvement in every kind of vegeta- tion. More moisture, however, is still wanted.
