The Joyful Sound, by William Brown (W. Oliphant and Co.,
Edinburgh), is a series of familiar addresses on the fifty-fifth chapter of Isaiah, given originally to the members of a Young Women's Bible. class. The author proclaims the truth as he sees it in the strictly orthodox, we might say revivalist, manner, but with a good deal of the power and attractiveness which true earnestness and a loving spirit cannot fail to give. The book would be very useful to any one conducting a eimilar class who shared the author's views as to the manner of presenting the Gospel, but who does not possees his power.
