[ruder this heading we notice such Books of the week as have not been reserved for review in other forms.]

Natives Under the Transvaal Flag. By the Rev. John H. Bovill. (Simpkin, Marshall, and Co. 3s. 6d.)—Mr. Bovill puts some matters of supreme importance very clearly. By Transvaal law no native may marry, he must live as a brute beast ; he can- not own fixed property ; he cannot proceed in the Courts against a white man. And this is the Government which a large part of the Liberal party seeks to bolster up! That a Little Englander should look with prejudice and suspicion on his own countrymen abroad is strange enough ; but even granted that, why should he champion slavery ?
