On Wednesday the Allies refused to modify any of the

main clauses of the Treaty with Turkey. Min'or concessions were drafted, and it was announced that the signature of Turkey to the Treaty with these amendments would be required within ten days. The German Foreign Minister produced a scheme of disarmament in which it was proposed that the process of dis- arming Germany should be allowed to continue for sixteen months. Mr. Lloyd George, speaking for the Allies, replied that it was impossible for the present "dangerous and abnormal situation" to be prolonged. He added that the final answer of the Allies would be given on Thursday.
