ELECTRICITY ACCOUNTS

Sta,—I am obliged to your correspondent, Mr. James Craigie, for his letter relating to the above matter. My electricity account is tendered by the Merseyside and North Wales Electricity Board, and the practice operating in Mr. Craigie's district whereby the meter reader records the readings and dates on a meter card in the possession of the consumer does not apply to this area. In such circumstances one is forced to the conclusion that the omission of the dates on the quarterly accounts is to prevent consumers from raising queries and—in appropriate cases— demanding amended accounts. In my opinion, Sir, this is tantamount to "sharp practice," but what is the remedy ?—Yours faithfully,

"ACCOUNTANT."
