Slit —In February, 1964, the London clearing banks announced that the closing of banks on Saturdays was 'being urgently considered' in order to reach 'an early conclusion.'

On June 22, 1965, they announced that they were seeking legislation to enable them to close banks on Saturdays.

On January 28, 1966, you published the notice of ..the Westminster Bank's annual general meeting, to be held on February 16, 1966, and extracts from the bank chairman's (Mr. Duncan Stirling) circulated statement, in which he states of 'the proposal that banks should not open on Saturdays' that 'the whole question is still under consideration.'
