Very little has been said in regard to the nature

of the Regency Bill, or as to who is to be named Regent in the event of the demise of the Crown before the Duke of Cornwall reaches the age of eighteen. In our opinion, Queen Mary should be entrusted with the duties of Regent,—duties which would come natural to her as the mother of the Sovereign, and which we believe she is in every respect well qualified to perform. In the case of a Queen of foreign origin objections might conceivably be raised to such a course. These, however, cannot be raised here, for Queen Mary, like the King, is native born, and thoroughly appreciates the temper of the British Constitution and the mind of the British people.
