The House Dignified. By Lillie Hamilton French. (G. P. Putnam's

Sons. 21s. net.)—Miss French writes from America, where they are accumulating many treasures of the Old World and successfully imitating what they cannot transport. She tells her readers how to plan a fine house and how to adorn it ; what kind of dining-room, drawing-room, library, hall, &c., they ought to have ; how they are to decorate and how to furnish them ; and her instructions are materialised, so to speak, in the illustrations with which the volume is plentifully supplied. We see what rooms they have on "the other side," and how they are adorned and fitted.
