Sin,—In 1669 Sir Edmund Bury Godfrey arrested Sir Alexander Fraizier, physician to the King, for debt. The King was much annoyed, and the bailiffs were apprehended and whipped. Godfrey himself was sent to the Porter's Lodge, and with the support of the Chief Justice lay there, saying " He will suffer in the cause for the people, and do refuse to receive almost any nutriment."
