The Engineers have presented their Report on the London Bridges,

and it confirms the forecasts. They propose, instead of the double-deck road and rail bridge at Charing Cross—the Lee Commission's scheme—a new road bridge at Charing Cross and the removal of Charing Cross Railway Station to the south side of the river. Lord Lee would apparently have preferred this scheme himself had not he assumed the opposition of the Southern Railway. It will cost about £2,000,000 less than the double-deck scheme and is aesthetically more desirable. We feel sure that we are now on the way to a really great settlement of the bridges problem.
