THE MYSTERY OF THE BLUE TRAIN. By Agatha Christie. (Collins.

7s. 6c1.)—Mrs. Christie has written another enthralling mystery story, in which she reintroduces Hercule Poirot, the fascinating little French detective. The ingredients of the tale are conventional enough. They include a famous Heart of Fire ruby—and its counterfeit ; a New York million- aire, whose acquisition of the jewel leads to the murder of his daughter in the Blue Train ; a voluptuous French actress ; and two cleverly disguised members of a gang of international thieves. But a mere hint at some of the materials used can do scant justice to a particularly clever chef. It must suffice to assert that Mrs. Christie's latest dish will be devoured avidly by readers who like excitement seasoned with sound characterization and good writing.
